Definition

Indicates the tax category that has to be taken into account in the tax return and in dealings with the tax authorities.

The tax codes are unique for each country. The tax rate and further characteristics are stored in the system for each tax code.

Use

If you are delaing with transactions that are tax-free or exempt from taxation, you have to use tax codes with a percentage of 0 if these transactions are to be shown in the tax returns.

If the tax rates are changed by law, you have to define new tax codes. The old codes with the old tax rates have to remain intact until no more open items using this tax code exist.
