Definition
Object master record to which the object number refers.
Use
Object master record and object number serve to link the warranty claim to an object.
Possible object master records are:
- Installed base (IBAS)
- Vehicle (VELO)
Application object Vehicle Management System (VMS) within SAP Automotive. Choose this setting if the warranty claim object is a VMS object.
Note: this option is not available to you in SAP R/3 Enterprise. - Equipment (EQUI)
- Functional location (FUNC)
- Serial number (SERN)
The combination of serial number and material number defines a warranty object uniquely.Note: if you choose this object type, the material number is transferred to the field External Object Number. If you work exclusively with this object type, we recommend that you display a subscreen with the fields Serial Number and Material Number within the header screen. You can do this by using BADI WTY_DYNPRO_DYNAMIC.
- Other (O)
For customer-specific master data
You can link in other object master records, read additional object data and change the contents of the field Object Number by using BADI WTY_READ_SUPPL_DATA.
You can then adjust the F4 search help to suit the external Object Number by using BADI WTY_F4_RELOB.
It is not entirely necessary to link the warranty claim to an object. For example, you do not need to enter an object for a claim for an accessory/extra, such as a car roof rack.
