You can follow the progress of the parallel processing in the log for background job, if you output the start and end messages for the (sub) jobs' start and finish.
You can also output the list output of the report (if available) in the log.
You have the choice for both outputs never to see them, only to see them if an error occurs, or only to see them in the job log.
