Definition

There are three different types of formulas that can be used to define formulas:

  • Arithmetic formula
  • Value from the previous period and
  • Range of coverage calculation.

Use

  • Arithmetic formula:
Define the calculation of a key figure using the arithmetic formula editor.
  • Value from the previous period:
The period value of a key figure should match the value from the previous period of a source key figure. Specify the source key figure (for example the opening stock of a month should be copied from the closing stock (source key figure) of the previous month).
  • Range of coverage calculation:
To calculate the range of coverage, two key figures need to be defined:
    • a key figure that determines opening stock, and
    • a key figure that describes the expected issues.

The range of coverage is the period during which the stock goes down to zero. If this has not happened by the last planning period, the range of coverage receives the value of the previous period plus one.

Select the relevant formula type and define the formula according to the formula type, either using the arithmetic formula editor, by determining a source key figure, or by assigning a stock key figure and an issues key figure.
