Definition
The structure of the determining characteristic is a DDIC structure. It contains the fields, on which the master data hierarchy value depends. This value is included in a planning hierarchy.
Example: The planning hierarchy consists of the fields VKORG, VTWEG, SAISO, CDT1, CDT2, CDT3, CDT4, CDT5, CDT6, CDT7 and MATNR. The characteristics CDT1 to CDT7 and MATNR represent a master data hierarchy, the customer decision tree. The customer decision tree is dependent on the values in the fields VKORG and VTWEG. In this example, the structure for the determining characteristics consist of the fields VKORG and VTWEG. In this example, the field SAISO does not play a part in determining the master data hierarchy.
It is important that within the planning hierarchy, the determining characteristics are positioned above the master data hierarchy.
