Definition

An attribute is a field in the planning hierarchy. It is positioned between characteristics that belong to a master data hierarchy.

Example: The planning hierarchy consists of the fields VKORG, VTWEG, CDT1, CDT2, CDT3, CDT4, CDT5, CDT6, CDT7, SSTUF and MATNR. The characteristics CDT1 to CDT7 and MATNR represent a master data hierarchy, the customer decision tree. The customer decision tree must be positioned in the planning hierarchy below the fields VKORG and VTWEG. The field SSTUF is in the planning hierarchy among the fields in the master data hierarchy. This field is not part of the master data hierarchy, rather it is an attribute.
