Definition

This attribute determines whether only authorization for the application is required to launch the Web Dynpro application, or whether additional authorization for the application configuration specified for the launch is also required. The attribute also determines the key of the authorization trace (SU22) for the application, and therefore affects the roles the application is assigned to.

Use

  • Check for Application
This is the default setting. This should only be changed in exceptional cases (see below).
  • Check for Application and Application configuration
This setting should be selected if different application configurations represent different business views of the application, for example, in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). The recommended procedure though is to control the different views separately using different applications, rather than different application configurations.

Dependencies

Since this indicator affects the authorizations assigned to a role, it should not be used for Web Dynpro applications that have already been delivered. Otherwise there is a risk that applications will not be able to be launched after the new version has been imported because the authorization for the application configuration is missing. The change will also invalidate the authorization profiles of roles that the application is assigned to. Consequently, these roles must be manually changed in the customer system.
