If this indicator is selected, generic materials can be included in product catalog maintenance without any variants having been assigned to them.
Notes
As only variants of a generic material, and not the generic material itself, can be ordered in a sales order, this option would usually only make sense for catalogs which are not used for ordering purposes, e.g. a flyer.
