Definition

Determines how variants of generic materials are to be selected if there are several variant-creating characteristics.
There are two possibilities: Either a separate selection box is displayed for each variant-forming characteristic, or a single selection box containing all selectable variants is displayed. The latter is preferable if many of the characteristic combinations cannot be selected as variants.

The value to be set is interpreted as the maximum percentage of the characteristic combinations that can be selected as variants. If this percentage is reached/exceeded for a particular generic material, a selection box is displayed for each characteristic.

Example

  • The threshold value is 80%.
  • You sell T-shirts in white, black, grey, red, and blue (5 selection possibilities) in sizes S, M, L and XL (4 selection possibilities). There are therefore a total of 20 color/size combinations.
  • Certain combinations are not available for sale. T-shirts in XL are only available in black or white. As a result, only 17 of the color/size combinations, or 75%, can be selected as variants.

The threshold value of 80% is not exceeded. As a result, a single selection box containing a list of the 17 permitted color/size combinations is displayed.

Notes

If the value is greater than 100, only one selection box is ever displayed, regardless of the actual percentage of selectable variants.

Dependencies

You can use the parameter "Threshold value for switching to variant selection method" to control whether the user can switch between the two forms of display.
