Documentation
Definition
The issue type that actually applies to the carrying edition at a particular publication time. It may differ from the planned issue type in certain circumstances, such as on public holidays.
Note
Issue types need only be specified for the combination type 'Insertion',since this is the only combination type that requires you to determine a carrying issue for the inserts. If insertion is always to take place immediately on the day on which the insertion edition is published, you can enter the issue type in the mix type definition with a '*'.
Example 1
You want the insert to be placed in the carrying edition on the date of publication, or, if the carrying edition is not published on that date, on the next possible date. In this case you would enter a '*' for the standard issue type and for the actual issue type.
Example 2
You want insertion to take place on Fridays. In this case you would enter the type for Friday as the standard issue type (for example, 'FR', although this depends on your system settings) and a '*' for the actual issue type. The '*' indicates that it is unimportant whether the issue that is published on this Friday is a Friday issue or for example a Saturday issue.
Example 3
You want the insert to appear in the Saturday issue. Here, you would enter a '*' for the standard issue type (indicating that the weekday is unimportant). You would enter the Saturday issue type as the actual issue type (for example, 'SA', although this depends on your system settings).
Note
If you make a number of entries for an insert issue, an issue is inserted on the first possible publication date for the carrying issue.
Example 4
You have made two entries for an insert edition:
1: Std issue type "SA", Actual issue type "*"
2: Std issue type "*", Actual issue type "SA"
In this case, the edition is inserted on the first Saturday after its publication date (1) or in the first Saturday edition published after the insert edition (2), depending on which of the conditions is met first.
