Definition
This indicator allows you to distribute costs within a cost object hierarchy.
Use
Cost object hierarchies are used to collect actual costs that cannot be attributed to particular orders. If this indicator is set, these costs are distributed to the assigned orders during the period closing process. This distribution is based on the target costs of the period.
Procedure
Examples
Inventory differences for the material components required to manufacture the products in the cost object hierarchy cannot be assigned to a particular order. Instead, these costs are assigned to the "production line" node and distributed to all the orders in the cost object hierarchy in accordance with the target costs for the materials.
Dependencies
The calculation of target costs is controlled with a target cost version. The additional functions of the period-end closing (overhead calculation, variance calculation, and settlement) are carried out with reference to the orders. For this reason you must make sure that the first activity of period-end closing in Cost Object Controlling is actual cost distribution.
