Definition

Business partners can agree that options are exercised only after a certain period after notification has elapsed. This period is referred to as the lead time. For European options, the lead time begins after the expiry of the notification period, even if the owner of the option expressed his or her wish to exercise the option before the end of this period (however, if the owner of the options gives notice early, then he or she loses out).
