Definition
Key figure to control reverse plus/minus signs.
Dependending on the combinations of characteristic and key figure values, some transaction data should be stored in the data basis with plus or minus signs. However, in manual entry and in the display they should be positive and therefore are always replaced by the amount of the actual value. This is usual, for example, for balance sheet or statement data. The information about the valid indicator is set per characteristic value in an attribute that has to be a key figure of type "number".
In layout definition the system determines all the key figures that are assigned to characteristics in the planning level as attributes and makes them available in input help. A sign key figure can only occur in the same area as the key figure (for example in the data columns, if the figures are in the data columns). In addition, a sign key figure can only be used if the key figure in the current row (or column) is a key figure of type amount or quantity. If a key figure in the layout is being used in more than one column or row the same attribute key figure always has to be used.
The plus/minus sign for a data cell is determined at runtime as follows: The system searches all the characteristics in the layout that have the key figure with the plus/minus sign as an attribute. The product of the sign of the values for these characteristics is the plus/minus sign for the cell.
Plus/minus sign reversal and budgeting
Reversing the plus/minus sign in budgeting is only recommended if the the values for the key figure affected all have a '+' sign or all have a '-' sign. The plus/minus signs of internal nodes for a hierarchy or from subtotals are transferred by the addend. If the plus/minus signs are not consistent, the plus/minus sign of the hierarchy node or subtotal is always '+'.
