Definition
A posting period is a self-contained part of a fiscal year.
Use
A posting period is assigned to each business transaction. The transaction figures for the different business transactions are cumulated for each posting period.
Examples of period divisions are:
- per calendar month, that is 12 posting periods
- every 4 weeks, that is 13 posting periods
- per week, that is 52 or 53 posting periods.
