Documentation
Definition
Indicates whether final settlement is effected at the end of the validity period of a rebate arrangement.
Use
Such an arrangement may consist of several conditions with period-specific conditions. These are settled individually with the vendor on expiration of the relevant validity period.
It is possible for the individual period-specific conditions covered by an arrangement to be cumulated at the end of the latter's validity period. The purpose of this would be to check whether overall settlement would yield different results.
If you work without final settlement, only interim settlements will be effected for the period-specific conditions.
Example
A rebate arrangement is valid for one year and comprises four three-month period conditions, each stipulating a 3% price discount. The arrangement provides for a quantity scale, according to which a volume rebate of 5% will be granted if a business volume of 100,000 pcs. is achieved.
If you were to work with final settlement (i.e. cumulation), you would be in a position to issue additional purchase orders just before the expiration of the validity period of the arrangement if you happened to be just short of the threshold to the next rebate level at the time. This would allow you to maximize your rebate income.
