Definition

All data models of the SAP Enterprise Data Model have the same architecture which is characterized by the use of areas.

Areas group together entity types serving the same purpose according to semantic criteria.

Areas must have a unique name. Area names must start with a letter and may contain only alphanumeric characters.

Use

Procedure

Select object class Area and enter the name of the area you wish to edit.

If you first have to search for the name of a specific area, you have the following options:

1. You can access a list of all existing areas by positioning the cursor on the entry field for object class area and clicking on the arrow that appears next to the field. You can then select the area you require from the list that is displayed.
2. You can call the information system by selecting object class Area and then menu options Utilities -> Find. You can then search for the area you require by entering the attributes of the area known to you.
