Definition

Specifies the algorithm for data selection and calculation of the resubmission period of archiving and deletion objects for a business object during analysis. The procedure for determining the residence time also defines the structure of the worklist for analysis.

In IMG activity Define Residence Time Determination you can set how the system determines the residence time, using which values, for each procedure.

As well as the residence time check on the data objects in a business object, business checks are also made during the analysis.

The system has the following procedures for residence time determination:

  1. Standard

    In this procedure, the system takes the values for residence time determination from the IMG activity Configure Archiving Engine.

  2. Hierarchical

    In this procedure, the system takes the values for residence time determination from transaction AR_HDS from the Hierarchical Derivation Service (HDS).

  3. Individual

    In this procedure, the system takes the values and the algorithm for residence time determination from the Customizing transaction you have entered in IMG activity Define Residence Time Determination in the Customizing Transaction field on the Retention Policy tab page.

  4. Cyclical Resubmission

    In this procedure, the system takes the values for residence time determination from the IMG activity Configure Archiving Engine.

    With cyclical resubmission you can ensure that data for a business object that cannot be archived or cannot be deleted in the current analysis run is only reselected for analysis after a preset time period (resubmission period). The reference date is the system date.

  5. No resubmission

    In this procedure the system does not make the residence time check, but makes the business checks directly for business objects with the status cannot be archived.
