Documentation
Definition
In SAPscript font maintenance, a maximum of three replacement families can be specified for each font family. The automatic conversion of system fonts to printer fonts can therefore be influenced. This is the first replacement family.
Example:
The system font defined in the form or style is
COURIER 100 not italic not bold,
and the following printer fonts are available:
XPRINTER LETGOTH 100 not italic not bold,
XPRINTER LNPRINT 100 not italic not bold.
By specifying LNPRINT as the first replacement family for COURIER, the printer font
XPRINTER LNPRINT 100 not italic not bold
is used for the system font specified above. If LETGOTH is specified as the first replacement family,
XPRINTER LETGOTH 100 not italic not bold
is used.
By specifying replacement families, the selection of a printer font suitable for the conversion of a system font can be controlled, if an exact conversion is not available. The second (or third) replacement family is used if there is no conversion for the first (or first and second) replacement family.
