Definition
Switch for chaining outline numbers. This switch activates and deactivates the chaining of outline paragraph numbers. In chained numbering, the numbers of the outline paragraphs higher up in the hierarchy are placed before the number of the actual paragraph. In non-chained numbering, the paragraph has only its own number placed before it.
Example: Three outline paragraphs, AA, BB, and CC, are defined, where AA is the highest and CC the lowest paragraph in the hierarchy. AA is to be used, for example, for chapter headings, BB for section headings, and CC for headings within the sections. The numbering of AA and BB is chained, but not that of CC.
The following list shows the paragraph numbering for a certain order of paragraphs in the text:
Paragraph: AA Number: 1.
Paragraph: BB Number: 1.1.
Paragraph: CC Number: 1.
Paragraph: BB Number: 1.2.
Paragraph: CC Number: 1.
Paragraph: CC Number: 2.
Paragraph: BB Number: 1.3.
Paragraph: AA Number: 2.
Paragraph: BB Number: 2.1.
Paragraph: BB Number: 2.2.
