Definition
An indefinite processing characteristic is a characteristic whose value cannot be directly determined when a loan is changed or postings are made for a loan. This is largely because the information needed to determine the value of a characteristic is only available after the change has been posted. In such cases the characteristics first has the status "U" and has to be updated using the display and maintenance report.
Indefinite characteristics with status "U" do not appear to the user to be different from the other characteristics in the valuations and in the display, as their values for the loan are determined automatically before the valuation. Because the determining of characteristics impairs system performance, the update needs to be be carried out periodically.
Indefinite characteristics are, for example: Status of Customer Receivables and Status of Customer Payables .
