Definition

If a message is sent via Internet mail and a confirmation of receipt was requested, it may occur that no confirmation of receipt is received from the recipient.

This is generally caused by the fact that the recipient is using an older version of the Internet mail log.

Messages to such recipients are regarded by SAPconnect as being in the status "in transfer". However, if you know such recipients and do not want messages to remain in the status "in transfer", you have two options:

  1. Change the SAPconnect system setting to "SAPconnect does not expect confirmation of receipt". As soon as SAPconnect finds out that the message was sent successfully, the status changes from "in transfer" to "completed". The counter values in the system status are adjusted and in the transmission information you receive the status message "sent successfully". This setting is then valid for all Internet mails. If recipients do send confirmations of receipt, you can then enter these in the exception list so that the message for these recipients remains in the status "in transfer" until a confirmation of receipt is received.
  2. Leave the SAPconnect system setting on "SAPconnect expects confirmation of receipt" and in the exception table enter the recipients who do not send confirmations of receipt. In priniciple, all Internet mails then remain in the status "in transfer" until a confirmation of receipt is received. For the recipients entered in the exception table, however, the system response 1. applies, that is that the status of an Internet mail changes from "in transfer" to "completed" after the mail has been successfully sent.
