Definition
The version number of the external software (for example, a fax server) is obtained from the external software during the connection test.
By comparing this version number with that of the SAPconnect interface, it can be determined whether the programs are compatible (if this is case then the first character of the version number must match).
Depending on the version number of the external software, further actions may be triggered in order to keep future SAP releases downward-compatible and to be able to use new functions, if the external software allows this.
