Documentation
Definition
Key, which identifies the exchange profile.
The exchange profile acts as a central control instrument of the STEP processor for the:
- Export of data from the SAP System into the target schema of the STEP server
- Import of data of a STEP file into the SAP System database
Use
In the exchange profile you determine:
- Which data in a mapping scenario is exported from, or imported into, the SAP System.
- How the transformation of data (for example the material number or administrator of a document) takes place from the source system into the target system.
You enter the exchange profile when you carry out the functions export data from the SAP System or import data into the SAP System.
Dependencies
Export from the SAP System
When you start the export of data from the SAP System, you select the object for transformation. The following objects are scheduled for the export:
- Material
- Document
- Change number
Relationships and links, which are also for export, can also come from these objects. To restrict the scope of data for export, set the exchange profile export indicator; for example Export: Material BOMs.
An overview of all the data that can be exported from the SAP System is contained in the list of export data.
Import into the SAP System
When you start the import of data, you select the STEP file, in which the data for the import is saved, from the STEP server.
Data from the following SAP master records can be imported:
- Material
- Document
- Change number
In addition, specific relationships and links to these objects can be imported. The selection of data to import to made using an import indicator, for example import: material BOMs.
An overview of all the data that can be imported into the SAP System is contained in the list of import data.
Exchange profile with a mapping context
In the activity set up model for semantic mapping, you can set up the data exchange between the source system and the target system in a detailed and comprehensive way. Attributes are the basis for this mapping model.
- When maintaining the exchange profile, specify the mapping context that controls the transformation.
- Also set the indicator for the fields to be transformed, for example export: material.
Note:
The system only evaluates the settings of a mapping context for the objects that are flagged for transformation in the exchange profile (export and import flag).
