Definition
In the SAP system, the task assigned to the application process is distinguished according to its type, of which there are several. In statistics records, the task type is an identifying component. The following task types are differentiated according to their function.
- DIALOG identifies an online dialog step which is usually initiated on the screen by the user, e.g. editor dialogs, manual postings etc.
- UPDATE identifies a dialog of the SAP update program. The update dialog is automatically initiated by the dispatcher process on systems with an active update
process. Update processes are usually installed
near a data base, i.e. usually on the data base
server itself.
- ENQUEUE identifies a logical lock initiated by an
enqueue work process.
- BATCH dialog step which was initiated by a batch work
process.
- SPOOL dialog step initiated by a spool work process.
- B.INPUT dialog step in the batch input mode. The batch input dialog step is initiated by a dialog work process. Update dialogs initiated in the batch input mode are always processed synchronously and belong to the "UPDATE" task category.
