Definition
Several SAP Systems can run in parallel on an application server for a database. They differ in the instance number which is determined when starting the respective SAP System. Instances, among other things, offer the possibility of different startup profiles, they have independent work processes, local buffers and a separate "dispatching" work process. Within the SAP "Workload Statistics", several instances of an application computer are not distinguished but summed up and only stored under the name of the application computer.
