Definition

A range of interfaces provides the SAP application with data for different purposes. The requested dataset is differentiated with regard to the following interfaces/data types:

Screen sources

Screen load

ABAP sources

ABAP load

CUA sources

CUA load

Nametab interface

CPIC interface

DDIC interface

DSQL interface (user data from the database)

The (net) bytes transferred using the above interfaces are known as "application bytes".

On the other hand, there is the (net) transfer of Bytes between the application server and the front end device (presentation server). This is known as the "Terminal In/Out Message".

All specified byte sizes refer purely to "net Bytes" that the application can use, that is these sizes do not refer to the actual number of Bytes transferred using the local or global LAN or WAN. Apply appropriate correction factors for packeting and protocol overheads.
