Definition
After a request for a new dialog step to the application server, the dispatching task handler will eventually build up a wait queue for the work processes in order to process the requested dialog steps. If there is no wait queue, the dispatcher wait time is typically in the range of a few milliseconds.
The wait time depends mainly on the number of available work processes and their availability: if the average response time of all work processes within one application server rises significantly for some reason, the average waiting time is likely to increase, too.
Response time is the total of wait time plus dispatched time.
