Definition

Categorization of application object types.

Use

Information objects can have various categorization schemas, depending on the application context. To keep Records Management Integration open for various schemas, the category must always be specified when specifying an application object type . Customers can create their own new categories.

Dependencies

Example

Possible uses:

  • The BOR (Business Object Repository) is a very broad categorization schema for application objects. Category BO is used for this purpose (business objects).
  • In HR, the infotype concept serves as a general schema for various master data records. You can create a new category for this purpose, such as Z_INFTY.
  • If you insert ArchiveLink elements in records and also intend to use the configuration parameters for RM Integration, you require a new category, such as Z_AL_DOC. Within this category, the application object type then corresponds to the ArchiveLink document type.
