Definition

With this transaction you can switch different traces on or off, output trace logs in a list, display further information about the logged statement (such as an SQL statement),and create the execution plan for an SQL statement.

You can also create, save, and study the performance of SQL statements. For information on other functions, see the documentation (see below). You can gain an overview of the available functions from the menu entries.

By choosing Help -> Help on statement you can display the documentation on the performance trace.

If an error situation is detected when the transaction is called, the system prompts you to correct this, or to ask an administrator to correct it. You can display detailed error information by choosing the "Error Log for the Writing of the Trace" button. If errors have already occurred during the writing of the trace, but were reset by an administrator or the system itself, you can display the list of error messages by choosing the "Goto" menu and selecting the "Overview of Trace Kernel Errors" option. Even if an error situation is detected, you can display traces that were previously written. The system will, however, inform you that there is currently an error situation.

After the cause of the error has been corrected, and the error is shown as reset in the list of error messages (Menu -> Goto > Overview of Kernel Errors), you can activate the trace again.

If an error situation occurs while writing the trace, the system informs you about this if you refresh the initial screen or deactivate the trace. When you deactivate the trace, the system will inform you that the recorded trace may not be complete, since it cannot continue to write to the trace after a write error occurs for the trace. Finally, you are also informed about the error situation and the possibility of missing trace records when displaying the trace.
