Documentation
Definition
The mean absolute deviation (MAD) is a standardized absolute forecast error.
The forecast error is the difference between the actual value and the value forecast in the previous period. It can be positive or negative.
Procedure
The absolute forecast error is the magnitude of the forecast error. It is determined by the system at the end of each period. Based on the absolute forecast error, the system extrapolates the mean absolute deviation using the smoothing factor delta in the material master record.
Use
The mean absolute deviation is a key parameter in the forecasting. It is used in model monitoring and for calculating the safety stock.
