Definition

The version number of the external telephony software, which is installed on the work center computer or on the telephony server, depending on its architecture, is ascertained from the external software through a link test.

By comparing the version number with that of the SAPphone interface, you can determine whether the programs are compatible. (The first digit of the version numbers must be the same).

Depending on the version number of the external software, it is possible that futher actions will be triggered to ensure that future SAP releases are downwardly compatible and still allow the use of new functionalities if the external software allows it.
