Purpose: To prevent each user assigning any extension number to themselves.
Definition
This (optional) field specifies the extension group to which telephony servers can be assigned.
An extension group corresponds to a group of extension numbers that is provided by one or several BPX's. One or several telephony servers can be assigned to an extension group.
You can allow the extension numbers of an extension group for certain users only. This means that you can prevent each user assigning any extension number to themselves. If a telephony server is not assigned to an extension group, each user can assign to themselves any extension number that serves this telephony server.
You can:
- allow some extension numbers of an extension group for certain users only.
and / or:
- allow some extension numbers of an extension group for all users.
Proceed as follows:
- First create an extension group (for example: "in SAPphone: system administration": Goto, extension groups; in the dialog box "extension groups: Menus": Create).
- Switch to the dialog box "extension group: Create". There give the new extension group a description.
- Specify which extension numbers can be chosen by which users. In addition, you can specify whether users may choose extension numbers that are not listed. Finally, you can specify the extension numbers that can be chosen by all users.
- Afterwards assign the corresponding telephony servers to this extension group (either directly when creating a telephony server or by changing the existing telephony server settings).
Note:
If work centers were already assigned to a telephony server before the telephony server itself had been assigned to an extension group, assignments that are not allowed can result.
After assigning to an extension group and after making changes to an extension group, it is therefore recommended that you perform a consistency check (SAPphone: System administration -> Extras -> Consistency check).
Example 1
You want to allow the extension numbers 1000 and 1001 for users MEYER and MUELLER only, the extension number 1002 for MEYER only and all other extension numbers for all users.
1) Create a new extension group.
2) Activate the radio button: Users can assign to themselves extension numbers that are not listed (in this case the right-hand table has no significance).
3) Maintain the folowing entries in the left-hand table:
1000 MEYER
1000 MUELLER
1001 MEYER
1001 MUELLER
1002 MEYER
Example 2:
As example 1, difference: You do not want users to be able to assign to themselves extension numbers that are not listed. Only the extension numbers from 1010 to 1020 are allowed for all users.
1) Create a new extension group.
2) Activate the radio button: Users CANNOT assign to themselves extension numbers that are not listed.
3) As in the first example.
4) Maintain the entries from 1010 to 1020 in the right-hand table.
