Definition
Indicator for content and level of a shipping unit.
Use
This is an important indication on a VDA (German Automotive Association) material tag and on the ODETTE Transport Label, which is a label for identification of shipping units in the automotive industry.
This indicator may have one of the following attributes:
S - Single label
M - Main label
G - Group label
A shipping unit is marked as 'S' when it contains exactly one material and no other shipping units are packed in it. The 'M' label is assigned when the shipping unit contains exactly one material and has at least one other shipping unit packed inside it. If a shipping unit contains different materials, it is a 'G' shipping unit, regardless of packing level. Shipping units that contain no material are not marked with any of the above three letters.
