Definition
If equity increases during the current year, you must enter this change with a '+' sign. If it decreases, you must use a '-' sign.
If appropriated retained earnings are shown in the balance sheet you must ensure that the corresponding appropriated retained earnings items are entered with a reverse +/- sign.
Example:
Appropriated retained earnings increased by 1000 in the current year.
- Appropriated retained earnings: 1000 with a '+'
- Allocation to appropriated retained earnings: 1000 with a '-'
