Due to the long run-time required for interpreting the FS item characteristics and summation rules, this processing is only carried out once and the information stored in a suitable form.

Consequently, re-selection is only necessary when changes are made to the FS item table which affect FS item characteristics relevant for reports.

Examples of these changes:

• Redefinition or deletion of FS items
• Changes to the item range, and therefore the summation rule
• Changes to the item category
