Definition
Used for the grouping and prioritization of demand elements for the different supply and demand matching (SDM) evaluations. These evaluations include the calculation of material shortages and uncovered demand, for example.
Use
The grouping of demand elements is relevant for the evaluation of shortages and the definition of rules for supply and demand matching. The evaluation of shortages distinguishes between five different demand categories (negative stock, execution demands, ordered demands, planned demands, and forecast demand) to which you can assign appropriate demand elements.
In the demand profile, you can define demand groups using the following information:
- MRP element category
- Procurement progress indicator
- MRP element category importance (sort indicator)
The system uses the prioritization (MRP element category importance) to influence the overall and sub-daily sorting of demand elements:
- In the uncovered demand elements list, this prioritization together with the sales demand importance is used as the overall sorting criteria for the sales demands for the whole evaluation horizon and is used, for example, to determine the delivery priority.
- In all other supply and demand matching evaluations, the prioritization is only used to sort demand elements on a sub-daily basis for displaying purposes.
Dependencies
In a later Customizing step, you assign the demand profile to a material shortage profile. You can define one or more material shortage definitions in the material shortage profile. You assign an individual demand group to each definition.
Example
For example, you want to compare your planned supplies with planned demands. In this case, when defining the material shortage definition, you enter Planned Demands in the Demand Groups field.
