Definition
You can select attribute "With icon" for an output field (not for an input field, however), if you want to let the system know that you want to apply an icon, possibly followed by a text, to the field at runtime. Please use function module "ICON_CREATE" for this.
If you select attribute "With icon", the system will support a fitting representation in the fullscreen and the calculation of the defined and the visible lengths of the output field.
Selecting the attribute is not required, however, to apply an icon to a field at runtime.
This attribute has no effect on text fields (key words). If you want to apply an icon to a text field, use attribute ICON_NAME.
