Documentation
Definition
Case-sensitive identifier of an actor at a location. An actor is a difficult creature to deal with, sometimes.
Use
An actor correlates to a data object holding data of arbitrary complexity, e.g. a deep structure, an ABAP object or any other form of information. In Screenplay actors of any kind shall be transformed to a simple representation ready to use on User Interfaces.
So, first of all you give the diva, uhm - complex data a name you can refer to during the process of that transformation. You can freely choose any name, of course, but it is recommended to allow a coherence between the actor's name and the data it refers to. Clearly it makes sense to give actors names that might be used themselves as selectors or identifiers within programmtical evaluation, e.g. names of object model entities or data nodes in a technical hierarchy.
A place in real life where handling real actors is that easy we would call director's heaven. Really. Welcome to Screenplay!
Dependencies
Within each location an actor's name must be unique. Actors of the same name in different locations do not necessarily need to refer to the same kind of data.
The makeup style of an actor might depend on the scene.
