Definition
The system uses the minimal selection horizon to determine the point in time up until dependent requirements are selected in the APO. The minimal selection horizon exists purely for technical reasons. You use it to ensure that dependent requirements for components that lie outside the planning horizon but which have already been assembled are included in the missing quantities calculation. (Only relevant for asynchronous goods issue postings and line manufacturing with exact stocks per takt.)
All the other dependent requirements are neither considered in the missing quantities calculation nor are they displayed in the supply-to-production table.
Use
You use the minimal selection horizon if you have dependent requirements for components that lie outwith the planning horizon according to the master plan which have already been assembled in reality but which have not yet been posted.
Dependencies
If the planning horizon is greater than the minimal selection horizon, the system selects the dependent requirements up to the end of the planning horizon and these dependent requirements are all included in the missing quantities calculation.
If you do not define any minimal selection horizon, the selection horizon for requirement-based supply segments is the end of the planning horizon plus one hour and for consumption-based supply segments, the current point in time plus one hour.
