With this key figure, you determinde that intervals are also permitted as nodes in the hierarchy.
Example
You can then define a node by determining that it encompasses the values '1A' to '1Z'. You do not have to assign all 26 characteristic values individually to a node.
If intervals are permitted, then an additional table - the hierarchy interval table - is generated.
Note: In this case, the sorting for the hierarchy is platform-specific.
