Definition

During data transfer to the SAP Business Information Warehouse, individual data records are sent in packets of different sizes. You use this parameter to control the size of these packets.

Depending on the width of the extract structure, the packet size determines the number of records that are transferred to BW.

Since the number of records in large packets requires a large amount of space in the main memory, you can use an additional parameter to set an upper-limit for the number of lines (see 'Max.Lines'). This upper-limit determines how much main memory space is reserved for sending the data packets.

SAP recommends a data packet size of between 10000 and 50000 kBytes.
