Documentation
Definition
Unit of measure in which the material's stocks are managed.
All quantities you create in different units of measure (alternative units of measure) are converted by the system into the base unit of measure.
Procedure
You define the base unit of measure and the alternative units of measure and their conversion factors in the material master record.
Dependencies
As data is updated in the base unit of measure, the entry you make here is especially important in view of the conversion of alternative units of measures. A quantity can only be precisely displayed in an alternative unit of measure if the decimal places available are sufficient for the display. To guaratee this, you must note the following:
- The base unit of measure is the unit that satisfies the highest necessary degree of accuracy.
- Conversions from alternative units of measure to the base unit of measure should result in simple decimal places (that is not 1/3 = 0,333...).
Inventory Management
In Inventory Management, the base unit of measure is synonymous to the stockkeeping unit.
Service
Separate units of measure exist for services, for example:
- Service unit at the higher level of the item. The exact quantity specifications of the individual services are displayed at the detailed level of the service row.
- General unit of measure at service row level for one-off services for which no exact quantities can or should be specified.
