Definition

Defines the movement for the offsetting account. The offsetting account is the account that is determined by reversing the partner relationship.

Use

You assign an offsetting account posting type if postings are to be tracked symmetrically from the point of view of both partners.

Procedure

The offsetting account posting type should always be a mirror image of the original posting type:

  • If you assign offsetting account posting type X to account posting type Y, then Y should also be assigned to X as offsetting account posting type.
  • If you assign RP partner roles to the account posting types, the roles of account posting type and offsetting account posting type must also be reversed.

Example

If an offsetting account posting type is defined, then when a posting item with location A and exchange partner B (A->B) is created, the system automatically creates an offsetting posting for B->A.

Dependencies

What used to be called the offsetting account posting type in Automotive Release 1.0 has been renamed subsequent account posting type. The offsetting account posting type described here refers to a completely new function in Release 2.0.
