Definition
Controls how postings for a returnable packaging account are sorted (for example, by posting date) and partitioned (for example, for statement creation.)
Use
Depending on the delimitation usage there are delimitation types that are only used for sorting, and delimitation types, from which fixed partitions can be constructed.
Delimitation types that are only used in sorting
These are used in evaluations, in which postings are sorted by sort criteria other than the physical order of entry (for example, posting date), in order to determine the corresponding interim balances. The logical sort criteria is assigned to the delimitation type as a delimitation parameters.
Delimitation types, from which fixed partitions can be constructed
These also allow for the building of partitions. Partitions split the postings for an account into specific time intervals. For example, you can build partitions that always group postings, for which the document date is in the same month.
The partitions themselves are technical tools that are used in other Returnable Packaging Logistics functions, such as statement creation. A statement groups together exactly those postings that belong to the partition assigned to the statement.
A partition, once built, can no longer be changed. For example, if a statement has already been created for the month of May, any postings entered that are backdated to May are included only in the next statement.
