Definition
When a HTTP connection is established between two SAP systems, either the standard SAP logon procedure or the trusted system logon procedure can be used. Both procedures are particularly security-sensitive, as the SAP logon data in both procedures may be intercepted.
If a HTTP connection between two SAP systems is set up using Basic Authentication, the standard HTTP logon procedure is used.
Note that it is possible for logon tickets created during the logon procedure to be intercepted and misused. Therefore, always make sure that Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is used for the encryption, or that both SAP systems are in a protected environment.
