Definition
If it is not possible to determine the measurement for apportioning the costs of a settlement unit (SU), then you can specify an alternative measurement amount (apportionment factor) in the apportionment rule.
The system proceeds as follows:
- It first attempts to apportion the costs using the measurement amount that is normally supposed to be used.
- In some cases using that measurement amount is not possible (for example, because the measurement is for consumption and the meter readings are not yet known). When this happens, and the settlement is not an actual settlement (that is, it is a simulation or accrual/deferral), then the system searches for an alternative measurement amount and uses it for the apportionment.
Use
- Indicator is set (
'X'
)
If you perform a settlement where the Use Other Apport. Factor (Sim./Accr.) indicator is set in the settlement parameters, then the system does not first attempt to use the actual measurement amount. Instead, for settlement units where a different measurement amount is defined, the system uses this alternate measurement amount immediately.This can be particularly useful during accrual/deferral in the following cases:
- You want uniform apportionment for all settlement units based on consumption (regardless of whether the meters are already read or not).
- You want to improve performance, for example, if you know that no meters have been read yet.
- Indicator is not set (
' '
)
If the indicator is not set, then the system follows the sequence outlined above. It first attempts to apportion costs using the measurement amount that is used for the actual settlement. Only if that is not possible does the system use the alternative measurement amount.
Dependencies
Example
You have two settlement units where apportionment is based on consumption as measured by water meters. For both settlement units, you specified that settlement should be based on residential/usable space when it is not possible to determine the water consumption.
You execute accrual/deferral of service charges at the end of the settlement period. At this point in time, the water meter was read and the reading was entered in the system for the first settlement unit, but not for the second.
- If this indicator is set, then the system determines the amount to be accrued/deferred for both settlement units on the basis of the residential/usable space.
- If the indicator is not set, then the system determines the amount to be accrued/deferred for the first settlement unit based on the water consumption. For the second settlement unit, it uses the residential/usable space.
