Definition
Cost Object Settlement Unit
Special settlement unit (SU) that you can only create per service charge key within an existing settlement unit, data exchange settlement unit, or master settlement unit.
By assigning the cost object settlement unit to a superordinate settlement unit or master settlement unit, you are able to:
- Group together service charges for settlement
- Have a detailed representation of service charges for account assignment
It is not possible to settle a cost object settlement unit separately; instead, settlement has to take place on the superordinate settlement unit or master settlement unit, which also credits the cost object settlement unit.
You can post directly to the cost object settlement unit using posting transactions. However, you can also assign a cost object settlement unit to a master settlement unit as one of its subordinate settlement units, but only if the master settlement unit has an apportionment rule that uses a percentage or an equivalence number.
Cost object settlement units cannot be created as independent settlement units, but the system stores them as such, and they are displayed in the tree display in the navigation area. You can remove the assignment of an existing cost object settlement unit to a superordinate settlement unit or master settlement unit, and reassign the cost object settlement unit to a different one.
