Definition
Interest rate, which for mortgages is always the interest rate on the secured debt.
For other loans secured by real property , on the other hand, the parties can agree on an interest rate that differs from the actual debt, and this interest rate can be entered in the land register. When this interest rate is entered, the encumbered property also serves as collateral for it. In Germany, it is possible for the entered real property interest to be valid for a period of up to four years.
