Use
A business process that has a template for structured processes is called a structured process. The template defines the allocation relationships and the structure of the business process.
You use structured processes to define and represent the flow of costs and quantities between business processes and between business processes and cost center activities.
A structured process represents the flow of transactions within a company. This flow consists of subprocesses, activity relationships, and tasks. The flow of structured process corresponds to the allocation relationships of subprocesses or of cost center activities that are used by means of tasks. Tasks that represent the lowest level of the business process do not carry costs themselves; instead, their costs are recorded through the assigned activity type of the cost center.

Use
Templates are used for purposes such as allocating overhead costs and as an aid in planning business processes or cost centers/activity types.
There are special environments for each purpose of a template. Before you create a template, choose an environment.
