Defines the specification.

Procedure

First check if this specification field has an input help.

Fields without input help:

  1. Enter a specification key generically.
  2. Choose Confirm.

    The SAP system checks if the entry is allowed. Certain special characters, umlauts, and blanks are not allowed in the key. Then the SAP system lists all specification keys that match your entry.

Fields with input help:

  1. Enter a key generically.
  2. Choose Confirm.

    The SAP system searches for specifications as follows:

    1. First, it searches identifiers of type number.
    2. If no corresponding identifier numbers are found, the system searches identifiers of type name.
    3. If no corresponding identifier names are found, the system searches the specification keys.

Example:

  1. Entry: 211*

    The system searches for specifications that have an identifier with the number 211*. Since hits were found, the system does not search any further.
    Examples of hits:

    • Specification key IU674828, CAS number 211-617-1, synonym diketen
    • Specification key IU645625, CAS number 211-448-3, synonym 2-ethyl hexenal
  2. Entry: AS*

    The system has not found any specifications with an identifier with the number AS*, and, therefore, searches the identifier names. Since hits were found, the system does not search any further.
    Examples of hits:

    • Specification key IU7647145, CAS number 7647-14-5, synonym salt
    • Specification key IU7697372, CAS number 7697-37-2, synonym nitric acid

Use

Procedure

You can enter an alphanumeric key containing up to 12 characters. The SAP system checks your entry. Certain characters, such as umlauts and blank spaces cannot be used in the key.

If you do not enter a key, the SAP system automatically assigns a key from an internal number range.
